Tall Toddler

Despite always being told Imtiyaz looks a lot like his Mama (minus the skin colour), he obviously did not inherit his height from me.

From birth till now, his height and weight almost always exceeded the size chart pediatricians use. And at the age of 4, I am again, suddenly on the lookout for a stroller that would let him sit or nap comfortably in them, without the head hanging out.

We’ve used the Maclaren Quest for more than 4 years now, and I have to say I am still loving it’s simplicity, sturdiness, easy to maneuver and the compact umbrella fold. For the whole period of usage, I haven’t even gone back for servicing of its wheels or anything even when the light weight feature has long been overcome by carrying a 23kg child in it.

If I don’t have the height problem now, I wouldn’t trade it for another stroller, I guess.

But since about a year ago, whenever he naps in it, he’d have to depend on the sun shade as extender to the seat, to be able to hold his head properly. I don’t think the sun shade would be able to support this any longer because he seems to grow every single day! And to go without a stroller whenever we go out now is totally out of the question because it’d definitely add to the stress – being too active, and refuses to being held and all. I’m sure most of you would know.

So. I’ve been looking around, and until now, only Cybex can accomodate his height. Well, at least he gets to nap comfortably eventhough the leg position doesn’t look too good. But does he have a choice? Even then, when sitting up straight, the back of the seat still lack of a few centimeters.

I know some joggers have higher backs, but I prefer umbrella fold ones for the convenience.

Would appreciate it if anyone can advice me on this – any make, as long as they are sturdy and doesn’t cost too much. By the way, I love the Silver Cross Dazzle, but would Imtiyaz fit in?

p.s. Can’t believe I’m still researching on strollers when my son is approaching 5! The joy of having a tall one, huh?😉

now that zana is too heavy for the kain gendong (and stroller too), her baby bro gets the travel perks!

although she still insists i carry her (yup, all 20kgs of her) whenever she’s cranky/sleepy.

good luck with the stroller search!

😀 imtiyaz has good genes. i wonder how tall he’ll be when he is in his teens.😉 probably your phone will ring non-stop from admirers.😀

as for the stroller, have lil knowledge of the subject. u can google ‘mamas & papas’ and have a look at their selection. i’m sure some of the brands are available back home.

oh i think imtiyaz will be tall! did i tell you the other day i saw a 6 month old the size of a 3 year old! i got a shock of my life! i know there is such a thing as gigantism but this boy was super-super-SUPER gigantic compared to aidan…not kidding..

    widz,
lucky Imtiyaz only demands his Babah to carry him! He knows the Mama is not up to his standards kot… hehe…

    Ms B,
I hope the time to filter phone calls would be a longgg way to go!😉 Hmmm… I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen Mamas and Papas sold here, you know! Will need to do more window shopping then! Hehehe.

    IDB,
Oh dear… I’d be so upset if that happened to me too! The choices there are so much nicer compare to here… and the price here is killing too!

6 months like a 3 year old sounds a bit scary, no? The parents are gonna have a tough time finding a suitable stroller, definitely! 😀
