The Formula

July 27, 2009 at 2:16 pm 5 comments

In the midst of reading Jodi Picoult’s Nineteen Minutes, this formula captured my eyes (and heart).

Happiness = Reality/Expectations

2 obvious ways to achieve happiness :

1. Improve reality
2. Lower expectations

Just a thought – if we were to have zero expectations, would happiness become infinity?

    But what if “reality” is really bad eventhough you don’t have any expectation. How would the equation be?

    I think it means…

    Happiness = Reality

    OR

    Happiness = Expectation

    berat nak ponder equation nih…hehe….

    but in a way maybe you are right…just taking a simple example: orang gila…yang tahap tg rambutan punya…they don’t have any expectation so they are happy….gelak2 sepanjang masa…

    heh…boleh pakai ke example tu? kekekeke….

    lol dura – you beat me to my conclusion. org yg takde expectation is normally those happy ppl we see meandering without a care in the world.

    every scrap of food stumbled across is like manna from heaven, any show of compassion is like rain on parched soil.

    but then, what’s life without some reality aye? dreams are dreams, which provides you with wings to soar – but reality keeps you rooted and grounded at the same time.
