The boy was in the Kebemama closing performance, playing instrument. And all these while, he told me he was doing some ‘fighting’ dance. No wonder when I told him to dance nicely on stage that day, he wailed oh-so-loudly that he didn’t want to dance!

Next time don’t give Mama the wrong impression, boy!

Mr. Hubs said this year’s performance looked like not much effort were put into, except for one or two performances. I guess it had to be from last year’s numerous complaints – when the dinner and show dragged on for hours! But we’re okay with it, as long as the boy is developing confidence with these kind of activities.

And Cuci the Musical…

We had a blast!! It was indeed truly entertaining and we had a good laugh throughout the 4-hour show. Yes. It lasted almost 4 hours that night – too much ad-lib, so I guess we were lucky!

So yeah. It was a good weekend. How was yours?

Turning 4, the biggest milestone the boy has achieved so far is definitely the language. Being able to speak Bahasa Melayu (eventhough it sounds a bit weird most of the time – from depending too much on the translation of Cartoon Network!) he approaches most strangers now assuming they’d definitely understand BM than English.

The other night, while waiting for my turn at the hospital for a routine checkup, we heard him talking to a parent of a boy (at the play area) :

My Mak and Pak is over there…

And some time just before that night, he spoke to a sales person :

Itu Mama saya. Babah saya pergi Kuching.

I think the latter sounds so much better than the first! The usage of ‘Mak’ is ok, but ‘Pak’? I’d prefer it to be ‘My Mak and Bapak’, eventhough it still sounds funny since he doesn’t call us those except in one of his pretend plays!

I really need to record one of his conversations before it doesn’t sound so funny anymore…

p.s. I don’t like the fact that the translations for the cartoons sometimes uses the words ‘dungu’, ‘bangang’, ‘mangkuk’, ‘bodoh’ and such! Obviously the main viewers for the cartoons are children?!

I am prone to motion sickness since small. I remember back in those days when no straight highways existed, the journey back to kampung or anywhere a little more than an hour would be dreaded. I’d have spare plastic bags in the car with me, and breaks in between to just grasp a breathe of fresh air was very much welcomed. And until now, I can never read a book, map or anything else in the car. The dizziness would just start.

Weirdly enough, I can read on a moving train, and on an aeroplane, eventhough I did have some shares of sickness when up in the air – but not every time.

As I grow older, the sickness subsided, but not entirely. I still puked on the boat trip with colleagues while in Norway. I still need to allow some not-so-fresh air into the cab, on the way from the hotel to the airport whilst on a business trip to Jakarta last year. So yeah, I’ve had my share of embarrassing moments due to my ‘sickness’. It’s never embarrassing with family members of course, but with strangers, I think it gives the impression like,

Lembiknya dia ni!

I am also very careful when selecting fun rides to go on – after several puking and everlasting headache sessions I had for still wanting to try!

And why am I writing about this?

Just because I was out with some colleagues to visit another colleague on maternity leave, and decided not to drive myself. Her driving was pretty impatient with loads of braking here and there, resulting in loads of head movement (and brain jumble up of course!). At the end of it, I came out a dizzy woman.

And now, I have never been more thankful I don’t have to tolerate with that kind of driving every day.

This week at the gym, I increased the intensity when running on the treadmill, and funnily enough at the end of the session it displayed,

GOOD WORKOUT!

Which means the workouts I did before this were not good enough? Hmmmmm…

I can already foresee myself running around town this Saturday.

Collect tickets for the musical, get Imtiyaz to Dewan MBSA by 2pm for his concert and of course, be there until it ends (hopefully not later than 6pm), and again, to be at Istana Budaya by 8.30pm for ‘Cuci the Musical’.

Which reminds me,

We need a baby-sitter for Saturday night. Any takers?

Mr. Hubs was excitedly searching YouTube for English and Malay songs from yesteryears on my phone. Michael Bolton, Rod Stewart, Jamal Abdillah, Alleycats, and some artists/songs I’ve never even heard of – like UG14?!

Eventhough we are of the same age, I think he actually lived in an era different from mine, and eventually his answer would always be,

I sekolah kampung…

Alalalala… sedihhhh je dengar.

Then he asked me,

You nak dengar apa? San Francisca Peters?

I paused. Gave him an odd look and he still haven’t noticed what he said. Only when I laughed out loud (atas sejadah ok… Pak Aji surf YouTube atas sejadah lepas semayang… elok sgt!), dengan confidentnya he said,

Told you I boleh masuk Raja Lawak!

p.s. I love you anyway.

Sorry. I lost count of my Irky Wirky posts. But these still irks me :

• After 3 children, a husband claims he has never been happy since the day they got married. WTF?!
• A woman telling the wife of her lover that love just comes naturally and cannot be forced. Harus disepak terajang je orang macam tu, don’t you think?
• Women who still want to be close with married men. Whatever the story they are being fed, I still believe pergaulan haruslah dijaga. Yes, you claim you are only friends, but hey, setan ada dimana-mana ok? Ever heard of the term ‘Prevention is better than cure’?
• The other day on the radio, a 2nd wife called and said there’s no difference whether you are the first or the second, because both still need to share! Helloooo… the first did not take anything away from you, but you took the hubby away from her ok?

I really do hope things will work out well for the dear friend I have in mind. She deserves nothing less.

p.s. Momster personally thinks in this era, most men can never be fair when it comes to polygamy or having affairs. If money is not an issue, love and attention will be an issue. What more if money IS an issue – one can only dream to get enough love and attention.

And so we’re done with Imtiyaz’s 4th birthday party. We had a great time, eventhough the birthday boy is still very much afraid of the Big Bear, just like 3 years ago!!

But yeah, we had fun… and I’m glad some of the friends decided to stay back and have a proper chat right after!

Photos will come later. My brother was the photographer for the day, together with another photographer my brother-in-law told to come! And of course, mummy-o’s hubby was also there to take some shots!
