You Are What You Eat

Birthday lunch at Farah Bill Cafe Boutique last May. Food-nothing to shout about, but ambience-I like!
I have to admit, I am a bit careful when it comes to food. At least I try to be careful. In a country where Halal signs can be doubtful and manipulated, most of the time I have to trust my instincts.
One reason is also because I have come across some non-muslim friends who think as long as no pork is involved, then automatically the food becomes Halal. I don’t blame them though. Obviously it’s the responsibility of us muslims to educate them on this.
With the assumption of most food joints in Malaysia should be Halal, I noticed people has become a little bit careless. With just the security of a ‘No pork’ sign, or it’s labeled ‘Seafood’, it’s considered Halal to most. Have it ever crossed your mind if the chicken/beef used is Halal? Or the oil used is of any animal substance? Usage of wine, maybe?
At times I thought to myself, we are more careful when we are out of the country, carefully selecting what or where to eat – just because we assume they are not Halal. It doesn’t hurt to be a little bit careful in your own country too, don’t you think?
p.s. I heard one of the popular kopitiam in the country has only 1 or 2 branches certified Halal. The rest, are xerox-ed copies. Think about it!
“He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of Allah. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For Allah is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.“
Surah 2 – Al Baqarah : Verse 173

PDM?
PDA – Public Display of Affection, is common. But PDM – Public Display of Money?
If some of you have read some of the so-called popular (with extreme poyo-ness) blogs in Malaysia, you would know what I mean.
First, displaying monthly cheques acquired, and now, a print screen of bank balance?
Oh.my.goodness!
Some people just need to grow up. Period.
p.s. On a positive note, those kinda blog act as a reminder to self to never ever be as poyo/riak as that. God forbid!

The Formula
In the midst of reading Jodi Picoult’s Nineteen Minutes, this formula captured my eyes (and heart).
Happiness = Reality/Expectations
2 obvious ways to achieve happiness :
1. Improve reality
2. Lower expectations
Just a thought – if we were to have zero expectations, would happiness become infinity?

City Boy?
"Babah, why this swimming pool got lotssss of stones?"
We managed to sneak in a picnic at a river in Raub, Pahang – thanks to my sister, whose department organized a ‘makan buah’ session there. The water was extremely refreshing and the area is surprisingly clean and comfy despite its ‘public’ status. The scenery was of course, breathtaking, and the sound of the water alone was serene enough to auto switch anybody into relax mode.
Imtiyaz, who was not so fond of the modern swimming pool (needs some coaxing to get him in, even then he’ll become too careful for a child his age), immediately jumped in and together with his cousins, were the first to get in and the last to come out.
When it’s time to go home,
Awwwww! But we’re having fun!
The promise? We’ll find a nearer river to have fun soon!
Enjoy the photos!

One 'gambar syok sendiri' for the record!

Over-excited!

Favourite stunt of the day

This happens ALL the time... guess who wins?

A ride not to be missed

Check out the headgear!
